This Issue
(c)2004 Kerry Pendergrast
In the third of issue of The Divine Animal we feature the sensual
paintings of Balinese artists, Pranoto and Kerry Pendergrast. We think you will
find them to be amazing artists and far above the caliber of almost any other
modern painters. They are both virtually unknown in the States, but we hope to
change that with this month's showcase of their work.
Also included in the February Visual Arts section is Emmy Award-winning filmmaker, Dustin Morrow's second photo essay in a series of four.
The poetry feature this issue is Songs of Innocence and Experience, by John Yates. This essay and series of poems explores the controversial subject of early childhood sexuality. We feel that Yates has both broken new ground and has treated a delicate subject with the utmost sensitivity. He has created a powerful and provocative piece illustrating the beauty of human eroticism.
Other works of interest include a thought-provoking excerpt from Lauren Raine's play, The Goddess and Leonard Cohen, five pieces of fiction as well as poetry by Mark Turcotte and others. Last, but certainly not least, The Dark Side of Eros by John Yates provides a chilling look at the perversion of eros through sexual slavery, forced prostitution and BD\SM.
Thank you for reading and welcome to the February edition of The Divine Animal!
